Shop local this Xmas
At TR Home and Garden, we value everyone who visits us – whether it’s to enjoy a catch-up in the café, browse our wide range of furniture and collectables, or look around the selection of plants and shrubs in our garden centre.
And we were extremely proud to gain recognition from the Scottish Tourism Board when they visited us anonymously to see how we operate here at TR.
Everything from the service provided by our friendly members of staff, range of merchandise on offer, catering in the café and our facilities for customers were assessed.
Not only were we awarded a three-star rating, but Visit Scotland now lists TR as a new tourist destination in Scotland. Great news not only for us, but for the village of Alford too.
The support local ethos is extremely important us and we actively encourage people to back the great businesses right on our doorstep here in Alford.
With Christmas fast approaching, it’s more important than ever for the local community to come together.
We’re kicking off the festive season by supporting The Alford Valley Community Railway when they host a pop-up event in-store on Thursday November 23rd. Members work tirelessly to raise funds for the railway, and all proceeds from the hand-crafted goods on sale, made by the Railway Crafters, will go straight to funds for the group. We know how hard it is to fit things around work life, so the shop and café will stay open until 7pm on the day.
On Sunday November 26th, the community will come together for the annual Alford Xmas Festival, with the village becoming a hive of activity.
And here at TR we will have something for everyone. There will be a BBQ outside the shop selling Graeme Barber burgers and sausage patties, as well as well as Stornoway black pudding, fresh farm eggs and bacon, served in buns from Sinclair’s of Ryhnie.
In the café you can enjoy fresh mince meat pies as well as home-made bakes from Bakery Lane and Suzie Q bakes, and we’ll be serving up luxury hot chocolate and gingerbread lattes.
Even though it’s cold on the day, kids will be sure to love a special festive treat from our ice cream parlour – opening especially for the event, and can also meet our infamous ‘Beastie Boys’, and take part in the colouring competition. There will also be the chance to win a gift voucher to spend in store.
With an eclectic mix of gifts, crafts, and cards, including Jodie from Everlong Art’s beautiful Alford Christmas cards, there’s something to suit all tastes and budgets this Christmas.
TR look forward to giving you all a warm welcome and are extremely grateful to the Alford community for its valued support all year round.
