Feel the Christmas magic in Alford this weekend
The big day is nearly here, and you can already feel the buzz in the community as the village puts the finishing touches to things ahead of this year’s Alford Christmas Festival.
There are so many exciting things planned for Sunday, ensuring there’s something for everyone when the streets come alive with a wealth of festive attractions for visitors coming to the area.
Here at TR, we kicked off Christmas with a craft pop-up event, helping raise funds for our friends at the Alford Valley Railway. It was a success with lots of people visiting to see the crafters goods.
We’ve been working hard to get set for Sunday – with seating for up to 40 people outside, there’s plenty room for people to enjoy something from our BBQ. We’ll be serving delicious burgers, hot dogs, and sausage Patties from Graeme Barber Butchers, and for those who want to enjoy the warmth of our 60-seater café, there’ll be a wealth of speciality coffees and hot chocolates, with sweet and savoury treats too including soup, sandwiches, steak pies, grilled food, scones, and home bakes.
Even though it’s forecast to be cold on the day, kids will be sure to love a special treat from our ice cream parlour, opening especially for the event.
And we’ve got plenty of entertainment for you to enjoy while you take a rest. Indoors, the TR Beastie Boys will be donning their Christmas outfits, and there’s plenty of activities for children in the play corner – they can even take part in our special Xmas colouring competition.
TR will come to life indoors and out with the help of our special guests – Cake and Candy the stilt walking clowns.
Don’t forget that this year’s Xmas display includes a Giving Tree in support of the Archie Foundation. With so many families in and around the area touched by the work of the charity, we felt it would be good to give something back and help to ensure all children at the hospital receive a present this Christmas. All you have to do is pick a tag, buy the present and return it to TR. We’ll be delivering the gifts to Archie in time for the big day.
We hope you’re as excited about Sunday as we are – see you then!
